Now that is very cool! Puts the Reno Air Races to shame (even though I'm a big fan and participant of the Reno races)

My guess is you would NEVER see that type scenario ANYWHERE in the US. Reason - FAA. Look at the restrictions now in place on airshow events. You're right on though, VERY COOL!!

Just a few years ago (I want to say about 1999) there was a race series in Laughlin, Nevada along the river, right in front of the casinos. While the race was not "between" pylons, rather "around" pylons, it was still in a populated area, over a river and low to the ground. It was with formula one race planes in a very tight course.

Now, there is one limiting factor to these sorts of races in the US. Technically speaking, we aren't supposed to exceed 60 degrees bank (yea right) so that we aren't aerobatic. Therefore, the type of race in Budapest that requires inverted flight to make quick turns, would indeed not be allowed in the US under current race rules.
