Hey guys, I just got a call from Airnow and they were offering me a EMB110 Captain position there. Can anyone tell me about QOL, pay, how much flight time can someone accumulate there. If anyone can give be the clean and durty about the comp. Thanks

I'm going to the interview soon. Most likely they will put me on the C208 if I get an offer. Any tips on the interview is appreciated. I heard they're hiring into a pool, so how long should one expected to wait? I don't want to start right away, so a few months is fine for me.

Pay is 18-21K for C208 and 21-24 for E110. E110 capt position is single-pilot no AP (just make sure your IFR current-they will have you fly a PCATD in interview)
QOL is pretty standard for overnight feeder freight. Load plane up at around 7 pm fly to hub, sleep in crashpad or crew room (no hotels) do the same thing again at around 6 am. Repeated 4 or 5 times a week.
All E110s runs with the exception of 2 do around 300-350 hrs. year. C208 runs are usually around 400-600.

The Good: Turbine PIC, ME PIC Upgrades in as little as 6-12 mo., Good bases-summers in Maine, winters in S. Texas or Southeast.

The Bad: Pay, See some previous post regarding AirNow, lots of lawsuits and random firing.

I interviewed there a year ago. They told me they would let me know something in two weeks. A month and a half later they call me and offer me the job, but I already had someting else going on.

Well, they seem to be really hurting for pilots. They've called me about 4 times already eventhough after I told them I wasnt really interested. The Emb 110 does seem like a fun plane to fly, and single pilot "even better" but 28k a year is mighty low and they want me to fly to Vermont out of my own pocket for a sim eval.

Heard upgrade is about a year and Captains make around $60,000.

About the random firing comment see some of the previous threads. There have been a number of pilots get terminated over rediculos things while others do incredibly stupid things and receive quick upgrades and promotions. TJ the pilot mentioned in a bunch of those threads who testified against another pilot in his wrongful termination case--just got fired for jokingly telling the newby 208 pilots in Maine to take out life insurance policies. I gotta kick out of that.

Oh yeah, if you sign a contract plan on finishing it. Its a promissory note and they can send creditors to screw up your credit.

But if you can keep yourself under radar its not a bad place to be. Put in 2 years there and you will leave with 1000 turbine and an ATP.

the pay rates mentioned above are down from what they used to be.

year 2000 starting pay:
c208 - 18k ($290/week after your basic bachelor taxes)
e110 - 24k
(add statute straightline mileage pay and per-diem)
so ask yourself who are the most likely people to accept this job at this payrate? and thats the kind of people youre going to get. at that starting 208 pay you better have your car paid-for and owe nothing to anyone. then youll get by for a while.

the c208 pay is the same now as it was back in 2000. it went up a bit since but its right back down to where it was 5 years ago. same for the e110 if not slightly lower than it was in 2000. someone please update the mileage and per-diem rates as those may have changed.

all schedules are different in regards to time "in the middle" of your work. the flight out. then sleep then fly back can be as much as 6-7 hours to sleep or as little as 4. hours per year range from 300 to 700+ on the e110. on the 208 it could be as high as 80 a month! (in that winter i did it, a full 1/3 of my time was in actual) Again this all depend on what routes you fly. theres wide variation in these with the same pay regardless.

theyre really tight on that contract now. they will enforce it. like t-rex said (sup dog?!) stay under the radar. management is very sensitive to what you say about them and the company. however you could also fly into the trees, do a go-around out of them and still have a job in the end. be a good worker and youll come out of there with an ATP, a type, all kinds of multi-turbine PIC in a typed plane, awesome decision making skillz....and youll also have had about as much fun flying a plane as you can handle. I miss the 208 and the e-110 and the flying i did in them. They're two of the most fun planes and youll learn alot from them. but i do not miss the job they came with. do it again if i had the chance to do it all over? Absolutely. was a good time overall.

I heard he wrote a letter of resignation? Guess I heard different.

Here is what is on my checks look like, before taxes of course, for a 5 day a week run in the Emb110:

Daily rate- $104 a day=$520 a week X 52 weeks =$27,040 first year base pay.
Mileage-$57.20 a week
Per deim- usually around $72 a week
Normal week= $649.20

Not gonna get rich but it is a great stepping stone. Prolly more than what Diesel makes at Nut Jets. Guess it is too bad he did not have enough backbone to not fly a broken airplane when he was here.

You're right neither TJ, AP, AM were not fired but were told to resign. The Good: Not fired, The bad: No unemployment pay and you can get sued for breaking contract like AM.

Hey make sure you wash the plane too made a grand doing it when i worked there.

Nope, whatever is open is what you are assigned. All open runs are posted internally before offered to new-hire. This also means a C208 pilot can bid a E110 run and get upgraded if CP lets ya. But this doesnt always happen, often E110 capts are hired off street and given runs prior to C208 pilots being able to bid.

Again..if no one besides the CP knows your name there you should be in good shape.
