Pilot Killed In Cargo Plane Crash

Aircraft Crashes In Heavy Fog

POSTED: 7:11 am EST January 14, 2005

SWANZEY, N.H. -- The pilot of cargo plane was killed when his aircraft crashed in heavy fog at Dillant Hopkins Airport, after being diverted there because of bad weather in Concord, his original destination, police said. He was believed to be the only person on board.

The identity of the pilot was being withheld until notification of his family.

Swanzey police said a report came in at 10:18 p.m. Thursday that the plane crashed upon landing. They said the plane, owned by Business Air, Inc., of Bennington, Vt., caught fire after impact, but the flames were quickly put out by the Swanzey Fire Department.

Business Air does business as AIR NOW.

Authorities said after the twin-engine turbo prop departed Bangor, it was diverted from its scheduled landing in Concord to Dillant Hopkins.

Investigators for the Federal Aviation Administration the National Transportation Safety Board were expected at the crash scene Friday morning.

He was one of the best guys at the crew house. He will be missed.

Our thoughts are with his family

Man, close to home for more than one reason.

May the air be smooth on your final flight west.

Just the other night in PWM, I ran into an AirNow guy who was diverted from BGR on his way into MHT. We rode over to the hotel together in the cab. Hope it wasn't him, he seemed like a good guy. My condolences to the AirNow family.

A fallen commrade

My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I remember meeting him for the first time, with his thick Boston accent. He loved his family and his dogs.

Hey DN, if you're listening...... thanks for the "BIG BOY" in Kake.
