Oh, I don't know about that. Kit gets a lot of crap on this board, but his career fairs are always packed full from what I hear. The man may exaggerate a little (ok, a lot), but his fairs have gotten lots of people jobs at places like AirTran.

and Gulfstream...but only if they brought their checkbook and a letter from their mommy and daddy indicating their willingness to co-sign...

Is someone a little impatient?

Barely 10 hours goes by and you get no reply and immediately the Expletives fly!

Be patient my friend, Some of us have better things to do than post on these websites, Especially between 22:18 and 8:25....I assume you were not there.

Crowd was lighter than normal, Which is probably better for attendees, Not necesarily good for Exhibitors! It being Father's Day Weekend probably didn't help the situation. Easier to make an impression if you are 1 of 200, not 1 of 400. I definitely remember people I met more because the crowd was smaller, whether it was Good or Bad.

Everyone there to see Jet Blue, Southwest, and Airtran (CAL, UPS, AND FEDEX were not there, I assume because the Father's day thing.) but all the reginals were there. Even a few airlines I had never seen attend showed up (Amerijet, USA 3000, Etc.)

We did interviews on the spot.....Found many great prospects. I am not pitching his seminars, I attended them way back as a prospective employee, but It is a great opportunity to meet people you wouldn't have the opportunity to meet otherwise and get answers to questions about Airlines and decide whether or not to apply there........Buen Suerte (Good Luck)

I'll be doing interviews tomorrow, If you show up, make sure you introduce yourself.

I went and it was my first one. They said the crowd at the thing was basically half as big as the usual crowd they get. It was all pretty good. They seemed to indicate that because it was fathers day weekend that the crowds were smaller. I believe another part of the problem was that not many desired names were there, such as UPS, FedEx, Continental, and Astar. Once they opened up the career fair doors at 4 pm, the people all headed straight for 1 of 3 places: Jetblue, SWA, or Airtran. I would guess the wait times were from 20-30 minutes? SWA had the shortest line, probably due to people not having the type, and knowing that it is a waste of time if you don't. I think their were around ten regional airlines, and they basically had no lines, or a one man line. They looked very bored standing in their booths. My guess is as many as 85 percent of the pilots in the room were there for the big three. The regionals almost seemed desperate for people to come over and talk to them. I don't know why, it's not like an ASA captain is gonna go talk to jetblue, and then go stop by the pinnacle booth to try is options there before he walks out of the room. I think they wanted to make it clear to people to talk to them even if they didn't have the published mins. It was an excellent setting for a CFI looking for that first regional job, that was for sure. Gulfstream indicated they were looking for street captains, and then the dude said if you don't have the 2000 tt for a captain slot that they "had something else for you". PFT of course. It seemed 100-200 multi engine would get you a regional interview that day. Total time probably didn't really matter. It was awkward when ASA went up there and said the mins were 600/100, and then the commutair dude said the mins at his place were higher at 900/100. The mins are harder to get on the 19 seat turboprop then for the 70 seat RJ. Jetblue made it clear that they didn't want anyone to refer to the EMB 190 as a regional jet because their was nothing regional about it due to it being so big. Say what you want about that, i'm sure everyone was thinking the same thing to themselves after he said it. Either way, he gave a great speech, and got everyone excited about working there. I write more later if i think of more. The airinc leader guy seemed to make it very clear that he had books for sale, but that they were not for everyone, and that everyone did not need them. Nothing really came across to me as being "snake-like". If you think about it i believe the maimi weekend must cost people around 400-500 dollars all together and people find that worth it to talk to several airlines. This one had only a few majors. If you are gonna spend that money it is more worth it if you can talk to 5 or 6 places. The average CFI might not spend that money because they just don't have it. Plus it is easier just to send a resume to a regional and get called in a few weeks...with SWA and jetblue it just doesn't work that way.

I agree 100% with the Dr. Big lines for SWA, JB and AT, crickets over by the other airlines.

I won't know if it was worth the money until a few months go by. If I get an interview with JB or AT, then it was worth it.

One complaint I have is that they had it at a downtown hotel ($30 cab each way from the airport.) Next time, Kit, please hold it at an airport hotel with free shuttle service.

Nice thread...from 2005! The 2007 ATL fair this weekend had over 400. I think the most popular line, by far, was UPS, then Delta, Continental, Airtran.
