Air France, Delta Consider Bid for Virgin Atlantic, Times Says

By Chris Kay - Feb 20, 2011 4:06 AM ET Sun Feb 20 09:06:02 GMT 2011

Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines Inc. are considering a joint bid for Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd., the airline controlled by billionaire Richard Branson, the Sunday Times reported, without saying where it got the information.
Air France and Delta Air Lines have appointed Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as their adviser, the newspaper said.

Well if they have hired Goldman Sachs there is more to this than getting them to join SkyTeam or doing a JV. Haven't hired an advisor for any other JV's so makes you wonder what's up.

All I gotta say is "staple!" TIC

You guys are in deep trouble. SWAPA already has Baghdad Bob on retainer. Joseph Goebbels wasn't available unfortunately.

Virgin Atlantic have already signed John Cleese. He's going to be doing 'less than candid' interviews with their MC Chair.

:D

Virgin's product is so much better than DL or Air Surrender Monkey -- it will be a big loss if they are bought.

I'm going to disagree. I have been in the premium cabin of both Virgin and Delta, and I preferred Delta. With all of the hype I was expecting an exceptional experience but I was thoroughly unimpressed. When talking to others, I hear that the Virgin product has gone downhill the last 5 years or so.

Virgin is consistently voted best transatlantic airline and I agree wholeheartedly- Delta's 767's are not even in the top 10.

I've had the pleasure of traveling in 1st class on Virgin Atlantic. All I can say is that the guy who does the final interviews for Virgin's FA's HAS to have the best job in the company. :D It would be a sad day indeed if DL gets a hand in crewing VA.

I totally forgot about the FAs. Seriously, they are all 40-60 years younger than the FAs working Delta flights.

No kidding. Pilots too. If US airlines had quality control like VA, there would be some out of work pilots over here.
