Air Europa?

Does anyone know anything about this airline? They fly between New York and Madrid, as well as onward to other locations.

I have looked at some of the European booking sites which have passenger reviews, and I have seen mixed reviews about their service and performance. And, from some reviews, I get the impression that they allow smoking on their flights (which is a BIG negative for me).

I'm looking to purchase tickets to Madrid this summer, since I think it will be tough to get there on passes. And, Air Europa has, by far, the cheapest fares.

However, if there are any safety concerns, or major customer service issues, or smoking allowed, I will probably shop elsewhere.

I've flown non-rev many times to Madrid. I good buddy of mine is working for AirEuropa and he says it's a great private airline in Spain.
