My CFI is coming up for renewal and I want to get the gold seal. What is everyone using to study for the AGI? Any prefered study manual, ie ASA, King, Gleim... You have to have the AGI or IGI plus the other additional requirements right? How difficult is the process?

As I recall when I got my advanced and instrument GI certificate, the AGI was a cross between the CFI Airplane and commercial pilot written, while the IGI was almost identical to the CFII written. (This was 25 years ago, so things might be different now). In any case, neither was a big deal.

Good luck.

Use the CFI Written Test Book for the AGI and the Instrument Test book for the IGI...

Take these results to the FSDO and they will issue an AGI/IGI...

Then take that plus your other requirements to the FSDO for your Gold Seal and they will issue that too...
