AME stated that you will be required to pass a stress test at age 55 every phsy. if the age 65 rule goes into law. The FAA is not just going to change it to 65 without some type of checking system in place. 9 mins running on treadmill with wires attached.....

GET IN SHAPE NOW!!!! if it passes..

Get ready to take pay cuts, the airlines has to finance the extra senior pay some how....get ready...

Took one in ANC in Nov. After 5 minutes at a brisk walk the thing starts accelerating and begins an incline, I told the Doctor. I just want to haul some boxes out off Hong Kong, I don't want to do an EVA on the space station. After he laughed for a while, he speed it up some more.

Remember all of those funny scenes from "The Right Stuff"?

Get ready...

At least it'll cull the herd of the guys who always say, "Going running? Yeah, I used to, but doctor say my knees are bad. Must have been all that high school football I was so good at.... See you at the buffet later."

The current FAA medical is a joke.
In Europe (military and civilian medical) I had to pass an EKG on a stationary bike. I' m with Huck on that. No knees excuse anymore.

Brotha man when I started running I was 6-3, 255 pounds and 38 years old. I was the walking encyclopedia of knee problems - IT band syndrome, Runner's Knee, Plantara Fasciitis, chub rub, gut rub, etc.... I would train till I got hurt, then back off awhile and try again.

I perservered and ran Anchorage last June at 6:25. Did Disney last month at 6:10. Already registered for Anchorage this year. I'm down to 235 and don't use near as much body glide as I used to - none, in fact.....

I look at it as part of the job. When I got hired at FDX Jack told us that there was a 25% chance we'd medical out by 60. The only way to counter the effects of night flying is to try and be fitter than you would have been.....

Especially after a CDG layover, right Huck ?

I prefer Singapore .... the populace there is better at diguising their contempt....

Hmm? The FAS said ther will be no changes to the current FAA Class 1. Who is the FAS? He is the head FAA Medical guy. Yes, I believe he said there may be a change. The guys/gals over age 60 will require a medical every 6 months. You have to realize that the FAA is planning to go to every 12 months for the First Class Phys. Nice try!!!!!!

Singapore is good. Ever been at that airline bar (forgot the name), where you can armwrestle Quantas pilots or Lufthansa flight attendants ?

Where do you guys stay ? My favorite is the Oriental

This test should be at age 60, not 55 if the age limit is raised.

Dude, where are you getting your information? My connection at OKC sez that the standards for a class 1 for pilots over age 60....will remain the same as they are now for pilots over age 60.

BTW...I had a valve replaced 8 years ago. I gotta do a stress test once a year. 9 minutes?!?!?! You think thats hard to do? Any fat a$$ can do that without even breaking a sweat. At 9 minutes, I'm not even running yet...and I go waaaayyy longer than that.

If your AME really told you that, he must've been laughing right after you left his office.

They should just self certify and do away with the medical system totally! CAL just had a pilot die at the controls, the other pilot handled it fine.....I believe the guy who died was doing upgrade IOE, so he just got a fresh medical and he still died.
We had one of our Captains drop dead in security one morning recently. Massve heart attack....I know he got a medical at least within the previous six months and chances are it was more recent than 6 months.

It doesn't prove a thing. You can get your medical and drop dead later that week. We have redundancy for a reason. Drop the medicals!

1st class lasting 12 months would be great.
