PCL128, I agree that Obama would be much more labor friendly than McCain, but how can you know how his NMB would rule on a hypothetical walk out?

It would be very hard to authorize a strike involving a carrier the size of DAL+NWA. (that's part of the reason I thought our best opportunity to fix some things was now)

As you know, the President selects two of the three NMB members. Obama's picks would be very pro-labor. In the event of an impasse, a pro-labor, or even an impartial, board member would follow the intent of the law and authorize a release.

I disagree. The intent of the law is clear. When an impasse is reached, a release is supposed to be provided. A fair NMB would provide that release. But the reality is that they wouldn't have to. Much like Clinton did, Obama would most likely make it very clear to airline management that they can't push around labor like his predecessor allowed. Management will back down when faced with a true strike threat that will cost the shareholders hundreds of millions. It will never actually get to a strike.

From what I've seen so far of the pilot's new contract with Anderson, they've become a lapdog union to the company.
