Real pilots or Mercenaries?
OK, I'll bite.
Six years ago, a good friend of mine (who was from Uganda) tried to convince me that we should both go to Nairobi Kenya where he used to fly Chieftains. We were both flying Chieftains for a Frt Dog outfit in the midwest, and he said with our experience, we'd have no trouble getting a job flying into the bush in Kenya.
I gave it serious consideration, until another friend of mine told me that Kenya had so much strife, they were on the verge of a civil war. Now, I did my time in the military, and a I gave plenty of people a chance to take potshots at me, but by God I at least had the chance to shoot back at them! I decided that the last thing I wanted to do was become a prize in a Turkey shoot. Flying through war zones in an unarmed Chieftain just didn't appeal to me. Even if I was given an armed aircraft, I'd only be a mercenary. I just didn't want to get involved in someone else's fight.
