Aeroservice in Miami is having a career fair on Saturday and I was planning on going. Has anyone been to one of these? Any idea if the companies do much hiring from it? Just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time going down to MIA on a day off. Thanks.

Could be worse, he could be working for Air Tahoma!!!

I couldn't resist ;)

Unbelievable. How much you wanna bet this guy is the former Training/8HRRULE?

Yep. I'm the original. Notice that today is the first day the other PCL registered on Flightinfo. I've been here for several years now. Somebody's trying to screw with me for some reason.

I think my clone likes cake. :)

H8U? How'd I miss that one?

Of all the freighters based in MIA, here is a list of the good ones :

.........

The MIA companies aren't the only ones that are supposed to be there. Express.net, Kalitta, and probably Tradewinds should be there.

Hey, I like my MIA freighter company!

but seriously though, are their career fairs even worth going??????

Never been to one...but probably not a bad place to go if you wanna get into the cargo world.

I've thought about going but I've never been sure if many people get hired

Do alot of Pilots go to these job fairs at aeroservice?

Atleast the Aeroservice one is free, if you don't get any bites, go to the beach and get drunk, the go home... It's not like a Kit Darby love-fest where you pay 300 bills to stand in line with 8 zillion other pilot clones at the AirTran or Southwest booth, only to get about 2 seconds of face time.

From what I have heard, the Aeroservice deal is becoming the AirInc of the NW 36th Street crowd.

Hey T-Gates,

Keep us updated on that Aeroservice career fair, I did a search hear on them and not to many good words on that company, lots of bad stuff though. I heard no employers eved showed at the last career fair they had.

I dunno, I've actually never been.... I was in MIA for the first one, around last August (I think) and heard from a buddy at Tradewinds that just a couple people showed up. So I didn't even bother. But then I heard the next one, a whole bunch showed. Who knows.... I'm sure there must be some "Buy a type, get a job" kool-aid being served, but I think if you ignore that cr*p and just try to track down HR people, I think it could work.

I have heard many people are buying types at Aeroservice to be competitive in the 10, 72, and 74...the majority of types at the fair. I would assume these are more for off the street captain hires than anything else.

I was taking my checkride on the -10 (no, I didn't pay for my training) the same day they had the last one. A lot of pilots were there, but I can't remember how many companies.....probably about eight or ten.

P.S.- I like my MIA based cargo company too! :p
