Anyone have any info on Aero Air out of Hillsboro?

Just looking for the standard stuff, Pay, Schedules, reputation, you know the drill.

Thanks in advance!

Don't know anything about pay or schedules, but I do know they have a great reputation. I am training there at Hillsboro Aviation and a lot of CFI's go over to Aero Air, they all rant about what a great place it is to work.......

they use to have hot chicks working the front desk... I think Fred Meyer and Nike fly out of there.

yep there are some hot ones working there. and yes fred meyer, intel and nike has their GIV and GV out there.

Nike has their own hangar at the north end of the airport, next to the approach end of 20.

Fred Meyer is now at PDX, they have been there for several years.

Intel has a corporate shuttle operation, using EMB jets and 1900s, but it is based over by the "terminal" (such as it is). I believe the airplanes overnight at Hangar 53.

I have not heard anything good. It is family owned and run (poorly). I have never worked there, but friends who have say stay away...most of them have quit. Oh and all that heavy equipment I heard some one talking about does not belong to/or run by Aero Air. Intel and nike do their own staffing. You be flying a worn out Turbocommander 25hrs a month on medivac=pager.
cheers

If you are talking about the air ambulance program, then yes, it's about 20 hours a month in an elderly 690A, but there is a fixed schedule (with shifts). It's about par for the course for fixed wing air ambulance.

The charter/management side is different. There, it is primarily aircraft management, so QOL really depends on the owner of the aircraft to which you are assigned. There are some great owners and some, ah, difficult owners. Some aircraft do charter as well, so that mixes things up a bit (both good and bad).

I worked at Aero Air in the mid 90's and still talk to some guys who work their. All I can say is that they are just a small 135 operator, and like all small operators have their politics and drawbacks. As for equiptment, the 690 is a kick ass little airplane and a lot of fun to fly. As for their bigger stuff like the earlier guy said that its not owned by Aero Air, however some of it was ocassionaly staffed by a couple of their pilots. Would I steer a friend over to them, probably not.
