I have a good friend who works there. He said the are loosing about 40-50 guys a month. People (mainly 2-3yr fo's) are bailing like rats off a sinking ship. You will probly move up quick there till you can hold a line as an F/O. Then sit as an f/o for the next 7+ years. My friend said the last bid most junior t-prop capt was 4/99 hire. So 6+ years. Jet CA 9/96 hire. Plus they have about 70+ AA pilots awaiting CA postions. They get there last EMJ in July so no more growth.

Why would you be asking that if you are already an FO for them? I would think someone working there would know the answer.

They're currently running 2 classes a month of 10 each per class. A mix between jets and props....Eagle is losing around 20-30 a month, not 40-50.....that'd be wishful thinking. ;-) The last attrition report the chief pilot printed showed 27 left in April....54% FO's and 46% CAs...

Before the Eagle bashing thread begins again....let me remind you that most of those hired around 99/00 in the last big boom tell me that they came to Eagle for the fast "14 month" upgrade...they are still FOs today. For those hired today, the upgrade may not be that long at all. Too many factors and changes in the industry to predict. But keep in mind roughly 1800 age 60 retirments will occur between now and 2009; there are 3000 on the street, 400 at Eagle.... I doubt half will actually come back WHEN recalled....AMR has a major obstacle ahead...but when recalls do finally begin, my prediction is things will move fast.

Take it for what it's worth...

You still doing the number game G, I'm proud of you man. Give me a call sometime, give me an update. Congrats on the jet award.

...that is well thought out annalogy. I may not agree with all the numbers, but I believe there will be quicker movement then most are saying. I thought the average attrition was 12 per month, but it appears to be increasing.

The flowbacks are all but done, A/C delivery is dynamic. The last few may be arriving, but that will change.

You may be right about only half the recalls ever coming back. I am more conservative and consider maybe 70% just to predict a time line. As more time goes on, I believe less will return. It will most likely all depend on the status of the retirement. If you are flying Captain some where else and the reirement gets slashed at AMR, why would you want to come back and pull gear for someone else for the same or less money? (It's a rhetorical question).

If I were looking to go to a commutter, I would look first at a quicker upgrade somewhere else, but would accept an offer at AE if nobody else called. The training is excellent and well respected in the industry. Most all carriers have hired former AE pilots and have had success with them in training and on the line. It's a known quantity. Example, I recommended Deciptibum at AAY, after 5 years at AE. He did well in training and it is a pleasure to fly with him. When his number comes up, he'll upgrade and do us proud.

Just a few thought!

The work environment and politics.......well, do a search!

I left Eagle at my 6 year mark. Not because of the upgrade! But for quality of life issue. Upgrades are to hard to predict (13 months to jet CA were I am now but that can change! Eagle was 14 months when I got hired in 99' but now over 6. Go were you want to be 10 years from now. Thats the best advice I can give you.

A guy I know met his former roomate who told him he heard that 80 pilots a month were leaving and it was an 11 year upgrade. Eagle is baaad news.

On a smarter note, Eagle is a good place to be. When/if AA starts recalling this place will be booming. Not to mention the pay and workrules are above average for the regionals. I like it well enough.

But let's not pretend that you're choosing who you want to work for. Whoever calls first is who your employer is. Besides, the percent of people that interview and get the job compared to those sent home is running about 1 in 4. It's not exactly a shoo-in.

Hire

Yes A.E. Is indeed hiring. I just got an email about a week ago for an offer to interview. I interviewed there in Sept. and was highly unimpressed by the attitudes of the Pilot's I met during the interview process, except for one guy who was doing the HR portion. They gave me the boot before the interview was even over with. That's kind of wrong how they wreck your ego and then kick you in the ass and make you walk to the bus stop after the torture is over, while you know other's you interviewed with are moving on to day two. So will I Interview?? No....... Goodluck to those who do. However some good advice.... If you're a Female and cannot explain how to enter a holding pattern when the Plate is right in front of you, then CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're hired!!!!!!

Agreed, I suggest a Bosum Buddies routine for the lock.
