Hi!

Verizon Wireless CDM 8940
Verizon Wireless CDM 8945
Samsung SCH-a950 V Cast Music
Motorola E815
LG VX 9800 ("The V")

Suggestions, reviews, experiences?

Any of your comments will be a great help.

PS-I've had Verizon since it was not even Verizon yet. Overall, I think their service is pretty good, especially after I was recently in YYZ and found out what crap passes for wireless service in Canada!!!

also, bro, you only need to post this once. most people on this board click the "new posts" button when we sign on, and your post appears there. posting in more than one place is just obnoxious.

PS sprint and cingular suck. go with verizon.

Yes Cingular sucks. I have had no problem with Sprint, other then the customer service is horrible.

I had the Verizon Razr - love Verizon, hate the Razr, and returned it after three days. Very fragile (in spite of the 'titanium shell' or whatever they call it), and awkward menues. The Razr looked cool, but that was about it. Got my wife the LG 8100 (which she loves, and works very well) and got myself the LG9800, which I also am very pleased with. I wasn't much of a text-messaging sort of person until this phone, and I have no gripes whatsoever about the phone. Both seem to have been good choices.

I just saw cingular introduced Push to Talk service with their customers. Looks like they're going for the kill with Sprint/Nextel. I hope verizon gets it soon as that's who I use, and am happy with their product and coverage.

To answer the question - I've used LG, Nokia, and Samsung phones and Samsung has had a better product over the others, with LG coming in a close 2nd. My dog ate my Samsung A670 and the thing kept on ticking (and has for almost 2 years). I'll probably buy another Samsung - easy menu navigation, plenty of features, but a little pricer then the cheapo nokias.

humm...I find it to be a pretty tough phone, and fits great in jean pockets, etc...nice and thin.

but those Motorola menus HAVE TO GO. I hate the delay all their menus seem to have. very frustrating.

Not sure how many places you traveled to with your phone, but I've been all over the country and Cingular by far is the best service. I've been with crews who've had Verizon and Sprint, and they didn't work in some places that my phone did. Sprint by far is the worst, unless you plan on using it within a major metro area only. Cingular has the largest digital network in the nation. I would def. go with Cingular or Verizon. Only thing I don't like about Verizon (when I had them) is there customer service is not so well, specially if you walk into their stores, and the variety of phones suck, besides how much they charge you if you want a new phone.

What I would do in your case would be to get a phone from the different companies and try it out to see who you like the most. Most companies will allow you to cancel the contract within 30, no questions asked. Try it before you buy it kinda deal.

Hi!

When I started with a nationwide plan, Cingular didn't provide coverage where we lived. I had the choice of V, ATT or Sprint.

I do agree that walking into a Verizon store doesn't get you much help. I do everything over the phone-it may take a while, but I have always found someone to help me or fix the problem I've had. I just go to the stores to buy stuff.

I have a V cell, which works well, and a co. Cingular Blackberry, which also seems to work well nationwide. So far, I've had coverage everywhere with both.

AGREED!! Just get a nice small phone (unless you want a smart phone) and stick it in your pocket... there's a reason why most Motorola's don't come with holsters/belt clips anymore.

Sounds like you have had all of them. I have no problem with converage an my sprint phone. Worked more places then my Cingular phone. I pay sprint 5 extra bucks a month to get unlimited roaming. Again, no problems. Cingular is a horrible company, and have had NO problems since I left them. Again they are the worst. Look at any consumer reports they will tell you that Verizon is the best. Cingular sucks in every catagory. Anyone who believed that when they and AT&T merged that there was going to be better coverage I guess didn't realize that if you had a Cingular phone you were either on their network or someone elses. So really the service didn't get any better. Because you were already using them in the first place!!

Cingular sucks.

go for nokia phone!

nokia phones is way to go!

rest is up to service provider!

Nokia phones good for talking, mailing, picture taking +you go throw them, open beer bottles with them etc...

Go Nokia

I've got the Motorola E815. I got it last fall after my 2 year contract was up with Verizon. This is my third 2 year contract with Verizon and I'm very happy with them. I've never used another carrier, so I have no basis for comparison, but like I said, I'm very happy with Verizon and I've heard more bad things about the other carriers.

The E815 is a nice phone. Along with the usual camera, speakerphone (which works very well, people on the other end of the call usually can't tell when I am using it) and other tools, it has a slot for a mini SD card to hold music, more photos, etc. It recognizes MP3's (but not WMA's), and even though the menus and management of playlists leaves alot to be desired, it can be used as an MP3 player. My only complaint is the Motorola charger plug. It seems so weak and cheesy compared to my old Kyocera phone.
