Hey all-

For anyone who's contemplated going overseas to fly relief missions, you should check out my buddy's website www.goochflies.com. He gave me my Otter check out shortly before going to work for Air Serv. He ended up being based in Chad as a Twin Otter captain and decided to document it all for his friends, family, and anyone else interested. The blog is some pretty good reading and for anyone interested in going, offers some good insight as to what its really like. He recently changed gigs and is now a float plane pirate in the USVI, but he's trying to help out a friend who is still in Africa. If you read the most recent blog entry, it will explain the situation, but basically he's trying to raise a little scratch to get a former house worker to France for a chance to start over. He set up a paypal account for donations and they're only looking to raise $800. I can vouch for the guy as I worked with him for a year. He's a stand up guy and this has no religious affiliations or save the world crap associated with it. Just trying to help a deserving friend out. If you don't feel like participating, I still recommend reading some of the blog. Theres always room for a few good flying stories none the less. Peace.
