After seeing the "You guys are jerks" thread pop up in error, and remembering all the times I've seen threads created when the user meant to just post a reply to an existing thread - I began to wonder if it's not possible with the message board software to simply remove the "Post New Thread" button completely from the bottom of the pages where you're viewing posts.

Does anyone actually create new threads using this button anyway? I always create a new thread (like now) from the thread view page. When I'm a level deeper and actually viewing posts, I'm not generally looking to create a new thread from that point.

Or maybe we can move the button to somewhere other than right next to the "Post reply" button?

Just some thoughts. I'm not sure how configurable this software is...
