The Associated Press reports that the plane crashed at the end of Runway
1 (RW 1/19) at about 11:30 a.m. ET today. The FAA reports that the pilot reported engine problems while on final approach.
The NBAA GA desk and news sources report that the aircraft is a Merlin twin-engine turboprop. The aircraft burst into flames, but the fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters on the scene.
NBAA's Member database indicates that the plane is registered to Maci Leasing Corporation, located in Morristown, NJ. The company is not a Member of NBAA.
News organizations report that there were two people on board, and both suffered injuries, but none that were life-threatening. The local police department reports that one person was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
The NBAA GA desk reports that Teterboro Airport is now closed, because the only other runway available -- RW 6/24 -- was already closed for construction when the accident occurred. It is estimated that at least
3-5 hours will be required to remove the construction equipment from RW 6/24, so that it can be returned to service.
At the time of this report, NBAA had not received calls from the media in regard to today's accident.
