I was wondering if anyone has any news for the furloughed blue ridgers. I havn't heard any news lately, but remain hopeful. please share any information that you may have. Thanks.

DOGTIRED,

In the employee webcast this Thursday, CEO Kerry Skeen opined that we would know the answer to the DO-jet transfer timeline in the next few weeks. The timeline will dictate pilot staffing for the duration of the transfer process.

So, to directly answer you, no, no news yet.

I was at a meeting some weeks back at which the revenue block hours of flying for independence was discussed. As of 3/06 every pilot on the seniority list will be averaging 670 hrs/yr. This includes all instructors, managers & reserve pilots, so in my estimation we will be back to hiring before then.

Short term: cloudy, chance of more rain.
Long term, sunny & bright.

I wouldn't wait around for ACA...you can stay on the list and fly for another regional...that's what most guys are doing. Either we have growth or I'll be right behind you on the street...

Some of the junior Blue Ridgers I know are in serious fear for their jobs, and some of the senior guys are also sending out resumes. So they don't see any chance of new hiring in near term.

Guess it all comes down to whether you think the new LCC will get off the ground.

I think it all depends on the timeline for the Delta Connection transition. If all 33 FRJ's are immediately transfered to another DC carrier in Oct'04 then yes there will be furloughs and the number I have heard hovers around 150. However if Delta agrees to a transition plan longer than six months then there should not be any additional furloughs due to new Buses arriving on the property.

Good luck to us all!!!!

As stated previously, we could easily furlough again if the Dojets go to fast. But, we will definitely need everyone back on board by 06'. If were doing well (and we will), then we'll continue to keep getting the buses and will need newhires in late 06'.
