I know it may be early for this but would you have any idea what they are going to do with guys who didn't get a chance to interview back in 01 when they stopped interviewing?
I heard a rumor 2 months ago that they were interviewing. With 42 on the street, I gave it zero credibility...still do. But they have been hurting for people for a while and they held back on recalls b/c we are in negotiations. With 15 called up to active duty and 6 PFEs in the last 2 767 upgrade classes, they were really forced to call pilots back.
So theoretically they could call the last 30 back in 2 or 3 waves. Rough numbers (don't quote me) for retirements are like 12 this year, 15 next, and then 25-30 in 2005. If someone is really interested in specifics I can look it up when I get home.
To those that aren't familiar with Airborne, the numbers probably seem miniscule, but with only 800 crewmembers, it is the percentages that count.
If you were in hopper to come in for a interview, I'd be pestering HR about once a month....what do you have to lose? The competition for jobs got a lot stiffer in the last year.
I actually spoke with one of the ones who were interviewed late last year. ABX told him that they were interviewing for the pool and expected hiring late next year (2003). So maybe with these recalls mean more hiring may take place. I sure hope so.
