A quick review for those who haven't been following this closely...

This was not a Tentative Agreement. This was the company's "best offer". The company had concluded that their offer was fine for the majority of the pilots and that it was just the negotiating committee and e-board that was being "unreasonable".

The e-board decided that they weren't going to make any meaningful progress as long as the company held that erroneous belief so they decided to send the company's "best offer" out for a vote. They notified the company and gave them time to make any revisions to their "best offer" before it was sent out. The company chose not to make any changes.

The primary reason for the vote was the Eboard realized that too much $hit had been agreed to by them and it would never, ever, ever pass. So it had to be flushed prior to going to the NMB, so we could start with a clean sheet of paper.

The company doesn't realize it but the union did them a favor. we would have haggled for 2 years, voted it down and then started over. So some time was saved. Unless the company punts on the Osaka domicile, we are a long way from a TA.

If everyone gets on board with the "No More Mr. Nice-Guy" campaign the pain will ramp up very quickly, but will hopefully be over very quickly to and both sides can get back to business.

What was the actual proposal to the pilots, if you don't mind me asking?

It was mostly horse hocky. There was no retro pay, the raise was about 1/2 of 1% a year over the life of the agreement. Many of the existing problems (emergency call out, management flying, etc.) were not adequately addressed. There was really little chance it would have passed at any time. From my perspective there was absolutely no possible reason to consider anything other than a no vote.

Either we know exactly who they are, or they were just F-in around with everyone...

Unfortunately the six were not thinking at all. One or two were counting cash that the signing bonus would have given them. We have a few that won't vote for what's right for the group cause they have most of the good deals in scheduling, open time and vacation. We also have one or two that communicate hourly with the Bobs and were convinced that the union was totally wrong. The message was still loud and clear.

The proposed pay increase was COLA+0.5% per year with a cap of 3% each year. That 3% cap is a real problem as you'd really get behind inflation whenever there's a year with the CPI over 3%.

The 6 probably actually meant to vote NO but statistically out of that many votes they put the wrong one down. It's those that didn't take the time to vote you must watch.

Did any of the "no" voters use the specially prepared Florida ballots? (sorry - couldn't resist digging that old crap up again...)

As Bumper mentioned, there should be no doubt in management as to the mindset of the group. Either way, whether directly or indirectly, it seems we'll be joining ABX in the fight eventually.
