With MCI, DET and EWR set to be given to Astar in June, how much longer will we have an 8 fleet? With only ORD,BWI and MDT left, probably not long before Astar gets those too!!
My guess, is that furlough letters are imminent!!

freighthound has a good point. Just who are you, anyway?????

Now you're talking like your ABX, but in 2004, you were talking like you weren't.

And then you edited practically all your first 20 posts, apparently they didn't jibe with who you wanted to pretend to be.

Sounds to me like you're either Astar or Rhoid.

I heard that ABX has asked for 18 captains to take early retirement? Why is that? Could that be to mitigate the need to furlough?

That's hilarious!! (and wrong)

I think you need to recheck your source of info. Mine comes from a DC8 captain that flew out of ILN last night. He said that 18 captains that are due to retire later this year were given letters in their vfiles asking them to take early retirement. This is no flame or made up story.

Confirmed in class today by an E-board member. Basically they were offered the option of retiring a few months early with no penalty and medical benefits paid until original retirement date.

The question is why are they being asked? Could it be, as a previous poster said, that Astar is taking over more flying and with the early retirement, ABX is trying to mitigate any potential furloughs?

This looks really bad. The message alone speaks volumes. Writing is on the wall folks, ABX is the red headed step child of airlines in the DHL family.

Yep, my bet is furloughs are coming!! How many is anyones guess, but i would think most of the PFE's and close to 50 pilots.

Not good!
