About working at TSA (vs. other low time regionals)

What are the chances of a CFI with 600/50 (with some right seat turbine/jet) getting hired?

U could also easily get hired at:
Big Sky
Great Lakes
Mesa
Pinnacle
PSA
Maybe USA Jet
Maybe some other regionals

If U want to go to a great regional, like Horizon or Air Wisconsin, go to TSA and 6 months later go to one of the better regionals.
Piedmont is paying a $5k bonus, and Chautauqua/Republic is paying $2.5, I believe, if you're RJ qualified already.

Right now you have double the time they are hiring at. So put your stuff in and be ready for a quick interview and class date. Life is what you make it hear. Do your job and go home ie: dont get caught up in what everyone says. I have been here for almost 2 years, been laid off once and still am fairly happy. Stick with the slogan "Get in, Get off, Get out". Get what you need out of the place and get out. They are going to have a class on June 4, and another one July 2. Send your stuff in ASAP.

I used to work at Trans States and I can honestly say that it's not as bad as people make it out to be. I actually liked working there, but left for another regional so I could live in base.

A little unknown secret is the Richmond base. Great group of pilots out there and no management to deal with. If you go to RIC you'll be much happier, but the commute sucks.

Plus you get senior real fast. I was a pretty senior FO in 5 months.

Trans States is a horrible place to work. If you can go elsewhere I would do so. If you are going to come to TSA, only stay long enough to meet the requirements of a better regional that is offering bonuses.

I heard from a member of management that TSA is attempting eliminate all benefits for probationary pilots in their current contract talks.

Idiots.
You would think that even REGIONAL MGMT would have a clue about the hiring situation right now.
How is the above going to help them recruit more pilots in a rapidly dwindling pool of elligible applicants?

The airline I work at has steadily been taking actions to make a new-hire position more accessible and more desireable.

If TSA mgmt pulls it off, it will mean more long-term troubles for them.

I agree that this is the right way to handle working at TSA. Don't get caught up in the issues and quietly go about your business. TSA's corporate culture isn't going to change so just view it as a place to get some experience and move on when the time's right. That's what the company wants and expects you to do too. A job is what you make of it. If you go in convinced it will be a less than quality experience, then it will be. Things aren't any better elsewhere. And no matter what: It beats a desk job. If you go in with a positive attitude, you're going to enjoy your job. Just don't let anyone else (fi posters) crush your spirit.
