From the APA hotline:

By now some of you have likely read the latest item on the Furlough Information section of the APA Web Site confirming that the National Mediation Board's single-carrier ruling will result in the recall of the 208 American Airlines pilots furloughed in November 2001. In compliance with Supplement CC of our collective bargaining agreement, this recall must be effective no later than April 30, and the pilots returned to the American Airlines payroll no later than May 1.
The APA Board of Directors Winter Meeting resumed at 9 AM today at APA Headquarters. Today's agenda included a wide range of domicile and other issues. The meeting is scheduled to continue through the balance of the week.

We will update this hotline tomorrow. Thanks for calling.

Too bad

Too bad they are not being recalled because the business is great and not some court ruling.

Just to clarify, it isn't a court ruling that brings back the 208. The APA/AA agreement regarding the purchase of TWA included furlough protection for all those hired prior to the sale closing on or about April 10. AA furloughed them using the force majeur provision, and once they become senior to 1200 or so TWA pilots with the NMB ruling they must be recalled. 360 TWA guys and 390 AA guys remain on furlough after the recall.

We just need to hope that AA doesn't furlough 208 from the new bottom (TWA guys). If they did, most if not all of the 208 would be coming to STL and would have to be trained in TWA ops specs before flying our airplanes. Management has stated that they have no intention of doing that, but one never knows.

Court ruling or not, if they bring them back without replacing them with 209 TW guys...I'd say you could probably say business is pretty good too!:D
