I was trying to compare the two on level playing fields by just using guarenteed pay.~wheelsup
Wheelsup,

I think the more you learn about this industry the more you will realize there is no level playing field. My guess is from reading from the SW guys (and maybe gals) is that they overfly the 78 hours massively on a regular basis. My guess is also that rarely if ever do any AA people only make the minimum guarantee, unless something really falls apart that month. It would also be interesting to find out how many legs are flown by the SW types for their 80-90 hours and how many legs are flown by the AA types for thier most likely 70-80 hours.

AA will declare bankruptcy in a pre-pakaged deal with SW. SW will then announce "two great airlines one great future" and proceed to staple ALL AA pilots to the bottom of the list!

Don't tease me that way Mark!

"trip" total (unit of pay) is regularly over minimum. Not block hours. As chase said avg is somewhere around 70. Avg legs is around 4.

You're guess is wrong in regards to AA. AA has had a low line guarantee of 64 hours for many years. Lines of flying are regularly built to 75-78 hours. Most will fly additional time over that due to reassignments, overfly or open time.

I've only seen guarantee once in 6 years at AA when two trips were lost to weather and I lost another to military reserve duty. At that point, you're so far in the hole, there's no point in trying to get it back.

I think we agree 80drvr. I must not have written it plainly enough, not unusual for me. What I said was ...that rarely if ever do any AA people "ONLY" make the minimum. That means they fly much much more. But thanks for clarifying it.

Sorry about that...guess I read your original post the wrong way.

oh not another one.....i think AA 's been rumored to merge with almost every airline on the planet....hahaaaaa....i wouldnt put my money on this one either...

SWA leg average and block total

I would say my average legs/day runs in the 3.5 range. My block hour total is in the 6.5 range. I am a BWI FO so my legs/day are less than the DAL/HOU/OAK guys. I work about 14-16 days per month and get paid about 105 trips average.

Let me ask you, does it hurt when these rumors are firmly pulled out of your ass?

Aren't they still trying to get the Continental/Aer Lingus merger through?
Ah yes, the famed Conelingus Airline.

And that's cunnilingus for FlyChicaga.
What, NO, really? I knew what you were talking about. My comment was made at the AA/SWA guy.

I am particularly a fan of cunnilingus. Especially when two women are involved. But that's not important right now. Back to your originally scheduled rumor mill.

3-way merger.

Add **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ET Airlines (Thailand) in a three-way merger, add some '70s porn music, and get Captain Buck Naked and First Officer Dirk Digler on board, now you have a merger. I think they could work out the seniority merger.

I have never seen the sensored feature. I was making a pun from the Thai based airline in the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**et region.
