Heard on another board that AA is talking about ramping up recalls to 150/month and pulling 25 MD80's out of the sand. Anyone else heard anything? I know in their prime they could only max out at 100/month, so I find that a little hard to believe

No way could they do 150 pilots a month, much less 150 Stupid-80 pilots. It's a wild rumor. There will be probably an increase over 10 a month, but probably not multiples of that. I wouldn't be hanging by the phone waiting for an AA recall.

whats a stupid-80 pilot?

"Stupid-80" is a term of endearment (or maybe not) for the MD-80 . . . not be read as an adjective to describe the pilots that fly it.

Any AA pilot. With over 80 hours. Of employment.

Who knows why, but AA likes to call their MD-80s the Super 80: derivative: Stupid 80!

Probably because when Douglas launched the airplane back in the late 70s, they called it the DC-9-Super 80.
