Is it common for AA pilots to carry Loss of License coverage or is Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability sufficient to meet most needs?

How is disability coverage associated with loosing your license? Or do you mean 'loss of medical', whereas medical coverage would kick in?

Some folks carry a Loss of License (which is basically loss of medical) policy as a bridge for insufficient STD or LTD. I wondered if the changes that had occurred in the last few years made such coverage a necessity.

I recommend having loss of license insurance. I lost my medical and it essentially paid my mortgage for 4 years. I only had the lowest coverage amount but it was well worth it. I believe it only covers 4 years unless the policies have changed.
Picture yourself at the ME's office and walking out without that "little piece of paper". What are you going to financially meet your needs?
I was not with AA but with another ALPA represented carrier.
