ATTENTION ALL AMERICAN EAGLE PILOTS
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ADVISE YOU THAT
AMERICAN AIRLINES WILL BEGIN RECALLING PILOTS IN JANUARY AT THE
RATE OF ABOUT 10 A MONTH. THESE RECALLS WILL NATURALLY
CREATE UPGRADE AND TRANSITION OPPORTUNITIES FOR AMERICAN
EAGLE PILOTS, SO WE WILL BE INCREASING OUR NEW HIRE CLASSES
TO ACCOMMODATE THESE MOVEMENTS. FEEL FREE TO DIRECT
FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES TO AMERICANEAGLECAREERS.COM
FOR DETAILS, OR CLICK ON “REFER A FRIEND” FROM THE JETNET HOME
PAGE.
AS ADDITIONAL DETAILS ARE AVAILABLE REGARDING DATES, NUMBERS
AND SUCH I WILL LET YOU KNOW.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK OUR FLOWBACK PILOTS FOR THE
PROFESSIONAL JOB THEY CONTINUE TO DO AT AMERICAN EAGLE.
THANKS, AND FLY SAFE,

Sweet

That's awesome!! I just called the wife, told her to put the house up for sale and to start looking for houses in DFW. Meanwhile, I beaned my Chief Pilot in the head with my ID on my way out the door.

My excitement quickly diminished when I realized a 700 hr CFI posted this. Cause, of couse, AMR will post to all the flight schools before they make any kind of announcement to the furloughed pilots.

Crap, now I have to go grovel for my job back.

I Take That Back

HOLY CRAP! CFI boy was right ... Our buddy Hetterman sent the following to the AA pilots:

13OCT06/1407
******************AMERICAN AIRLINES AVIATORS******************
IN JANUARY, WE WILL BEGIN RECALLING PILOTS AT A RATE OF ABOUT
10 A MONTH. THIS RECALL IS DRIVEN PRIMARILY BY ATTRITION. IT =87
DOES NOT MEAN WE/LL BE INCREASING OUR SCHEDULE NEXT YEAR, AS
NEXT YEAR/S OPERATION WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME AS 2006. THE
PILOTS THAT WE ARE BRINGING BACK WILL HELP FILL IN SOME OF THE
GAPS LEFT BY PILOTS WHO ARE LEAVING THE COMPANY OR RETIRING.

A FINAL NUMBER OF RECALLS WILL DEPEND ON ATTRITION LEVELS THAT
WE/RE MONITORING CLOSELY. WE/LL BEGIN SENDING RECALL LETTERS TO
PILOTS IN SENIORITY ORDER IN THE COMING DAYS. DETAILS WILL BE
POSTED ON AAPILOTS WHEN A FINAL LIST HAS BEEN CONFIRMED.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING A COMPETITIVE AIRLINE THAT IS
POSITIONED FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS AND GROWTH. I KNOW YOU WILL
JOIN US IN WELCOMING OUR RECALLED PILOTS BACK TO OUR COCKPITS.

REGARDS, MARK

10 a month eh? Sweet!! Only 23 years to get all 2800 back on property!

What the heck, I'll throw my ID at my Chief Pilot anyway!

Be realistic. Actual recall acceptance rate will be NO WHERE CLOSE to 100%.

More realistic will be 50%, if not even lower.

Great news for AA, but probably even greater news for Eagle... maybe the Flowbacks will start to leave and create upgrade opportunities for Eagle pilots. I wish them luck and success, they surely deserve it.

Do you really think that there is going to be anywhere close to a 100% recall rate, my guess is that it will be less then 50% many of these guys are doing something different by now.

Recall Rate

I'm just being facetious ... it's just that after 5 years of waiting and another 2-4 years to go, it's hard to get too excited.

I do realize, however, this is a huge step in the right direction, for Eagle, AA, and fmr TWA pilots.

My prediction is that for the first few months recall rate will be fairly close to 100%, those guys didn't leave too long ago and most of them are tired of being reserve CA's at Eagle. It won't take too long for the recall rate to drop to 1 in 5, maybe even 1 in 6. Lots of fmr TWA guys found better deals elsewhere. Time will tell ... maybe it will only be 10 years instead of 23.
