If homer's who I think he is, he's in a union. The same as the DAL dispatchers. But why do my roommates who are DAL dispatchers make more than ASA captains, and our dispatchers are under paid for doing an even harder job? See how good the relationship is between ASA mgmt and the dispatchers when their contract is due and the company starts trying to gouge them.

Nope.... Not who you think I am!

Sir, I know that you are simply trying to stir up people. But if you do indeed believe that unions bring down companies, you have not thought enough about how companies work.

A leader of a company with a unionized workforce has three groups to deal with: Management, Employees (Union), and Customers. His job is to get Management and Employees on the same side, working for the customer. Any company in which people refer to "Union Guys" vs "Company Guys" is destined to fail.

If you think this is not achievable, you really need to look at various unionized companies and watch how they perform brilliantly. Delta management before Ron Allen did just that. A great leader will galvanize his people, union or not. Unions are made up of employees. Satisfied, appreciated, fairly-compensated employees will act reasonably within their union, and you will see a company that operates essentially like a nonunion company.

The problem with Delta is that Allen and Mullin themselves were not on the side of their own company or customers. Allen was an incompetent leader, and Mullin was busy raiding whatever he could from the company and allowed the unions to the same.

I am not anti-management. If you have several hours, I will describe some of the greatest minds in the business. It just so happens, and this is well-documented from some great business analyists, that airline management historically has been poor. This is really a shame, when you think about it, because of all the industries out there, airlines can be really fun to manage as well as to work for as front-line employees. You would have hoped the bad managers would choose to work in less glamorous industries, like Plastics. A real shame.

There are a few notable exceptions, and these leaders have inspired their employees--unionized and nonunionized--and made their airlines great.

I started this thread to get this sort of response.

They both (skippy and le break) are clowns! I would rather listen to a bunch of retards claw a chalkbord!

but Mr. ASA is correct if we had a good president, good team leaders, good chief pilots, and good inflight supervisors, we would be one of the best regional airlines in the U.S.A.

but our management has the special ed mentallity ( i'm being unfair to the retards) and nothing will ever improve.

and to the question I asked, I would rather had skippy as pres. at least we knew he was to lazy to give these bullshet road shows like these current fagz are doing!

It always seemed LaBreque was the "brains" or at least the numbers guy when he and Skip Barnette would put on meetings together. During their talks Brian LaBreque would say the things that would really scare the bejeesus out of me. Some of my favorite quotes are "safety is a given" and the whole speech about pilots being better for the company if they have less than 5 years of longevity.

Brian's speech is correct, new entrants into the marketplace do have an advantage with new crews advancing eagerly into a new fleet. He sees an advantage that airlines should operate in 5 year cycles, thowing away the operation every so often just to lower costs through destruction of longevity.

I am convinced that his economic case study has become his vision for us at ASA. Reduce labor costs so that he attains his model, or simply take advantage of ALPA's complete lack of a coherent scope policy to run alter ego after alter ego airline under Delta colors so nobody has any career (except for a small group of managers who jump from one carrier to the next).

One thing I really like about Atkin is his loyalty to Skywest.

Brian LaBreque's loyalty is to Brian. We at ASA are not pilots, or even humans to Brian LaBreque - we are units of cost and if you have been here more than 5 years he would like to trade you in - your lease is up unless you negotiate some really cheap rates.

Voted Yes
Brannon for ALPA President

This isn't an airline. It more closely resembles a New Orleans bus station the night before a hurricane. Or the day after.

Only negative about Paquette is he hired Thibedodo as both came from TWA.

Prove it? It's a fact that they both came from TWA, and after paquette was here he brought in Thibydodo, and that F/A VP too, Eva I think her name is. Maybe someone else can offer more proof to satisfy you.

If it was a fact, there should be proof. Or Maybe, just maybe, they came from Trans World Express...

Maybe, but I always heard TWA mainline. Hey, why don't YOU do a search and get back to the rest of us. I really don't care.
