A question for you 'Giants' out there... (Atlas)
I've done a little reading on these boards, but still have a few questions about Atlas.
1. STN is the junior base for all new hires (other than the "lucky six"). My question is this, how long after being hired do you think it would take to get a domestic base (I live in a gateway city)? Is a year a conservative number? Two?
2. Does Atlas have a training contract or any other legal agreement that is signed when entering initial training? If so, how much money is the contractual amount? (No intentions of defaulting or skipping early, just looking at worst case scenario here...)
3. I've spoke with a few Atlas pilots and they seem to think that getting over to STN and back on a 17on/xx off schedule is not really that difficult (jumping on company aircraft being the best choice). Anyone dissagree with thiis statement?
4. I hear that the interview is for both Polar and Atlas. I also hear that they offer positions based on where the need is at the time. Does anyone know if the majority of new hires is going to one vs. the other?
5. Here's the last one (it's a doozy) - should the Polar/Atlas merger/acqisition be completed, is there any hope of Atlas pay with Polar work rules as the end result for the pilots?
Thanks for you time. I appreciate your help.
