A Problem And an ACC Question

ACC is a great place to work and get great experience.Take the interview and if you get the job I would seriously consider taking it. Chances are you could go to a regional with low time or just CFI experience but flying the shorts through all types of wx, ice, etc will give far better experience that sitting in the right seat of a c-172.

Your current boss sounds like an unprofessional jerkoff but pretty standard at that level. Call in sick

I'm an assistant CP with AMF and if one of my guys called in sick or used some other excuse to go to an interview, I would be extremely PO'd.

Calling in sick *could've* worked had your employer not known you had an interview. Now it's going to (rightly so) look like you're calling out sick to cover going to an interview. Instead of getting fired for going to an interview, you'll get fired for lying about being sick and going to an interview.

I, personally, would look for another gig even if you don't go to the ACC interview. Having an employer tell you if you interview I'll fire you is CRAP, especially at a CFI position. Hell, you worked there < 1 week, I wouldn't even put the job on applications or resumes, so no harm to foul. I had this situation come up at one of my past employers and they were 100% ok with it when I explained I applied for a job 6 months ago.

ACC is a great place - I haven't worked there but interviewed there and was hired (which was pretty easy, check out aviationinterviews.com for the gouge) and the people there were great. NOBODY that works/worked there had ANYTHING bad to say about the company, and at a small 135 freight outfit that's pretty hard to do. If I had less then 1000TT going into it I probably would have accepted.

If you get fired for going on an interview, I'd risk it. I have broken leases before and it never impacted my credit score - I was upfront with the leasing office.

Thanks a lot you guys. Right now the only person who knows that I could go to this interview is a senior instructor there. My boss doesn't know but I hope the instructor doesn't talk. As for the interview, I have the day off after the interview and I found out I could get a flight up there the night before, do the interview, and be back the same day as the interview meaning I would only miss one day. I called ACC back today, knowing they were closed and left a message with the hiring hr woman asking if I could move my date back one day. I sure hope so that way I can still go on the interview and nobody is of the wiser.

If I was to get hired, I'd like to hold onto some sort of flying job while I wait for the class date. I hear the new hiring class won't get a class date until roughly june so that would be at least 3 months waiting. I really want to work for ACC because as you guys also said, I've heard nothing but excellent things about the company. The truth really is, ever since I heard about the company and saw the shorts 360 in person, it's been the only true company I can reasonably say I wanted to work for. Either way, I just hope they can work with me and be able to move it back one day just so I can keep some sort of income until the class date should I get hired. If they can't, I'll be forced to make a tough decision and only hope it's the right one.

You go interview with ACC. Your going to be fine and get the job. I don't see why you would not unless you really step on your crank or something.

I am going to guess your current CFI job has no benefits. At least with ACC you are going to have health insurance. I know it might not seem important now but it is something to keep in mind.

If you get fired because of the interview. I would say that you could go after the guy that owns that place. Is that even legal?

If you do not interview with ACC because of your current CFI job you are making a huge mistake and your going to kick your self in the butt rather hard. At this point in your career sacrifice is the name of the game and its time to start making some.

Don't worry about the lease you can commute until it is over.

So, lets say you pass up this interview now? How are you ever gonna get another job? Hope your next big interview oprotunity is on a rainy day or on a weekend?

Dude I was in your shoes last June when I was offered an interview at ACC while being slavedriven as a CFI. Go to the interview, do whatever you have to do. They have been flexible in the past in interview dates, so you might be able to make it happen there, otherwise.. get sick, wreck your car, get sued, whatever... if they fire you, believe me you will be able to get a job somewhere instructing or dropping skydivers!
