The majority of furloughed fo's were Saab drivers. They need to get them back on now so the new hire fo's can get the 900. After all if airline x called you for a 170, crj, erj or Mesaba calls you for a Saab class....where are you going?

The rottenness of this company never ceases to amaze me...

Well, now XJ will be leading the pack with 100 76 seat jet FO's all earning $22/Hr. (With the exeption of the 10 more senior FO's)

On the bright side, the Saab schedules will most likely be much more efficient and generally better for QOL. Now, if they had only decided to design the Saab with an APU. I guess it's time to finally buy a good seat cushion.

Makes perfect sense. I have a friend who has an interview with XJ soon, and he's already been accepted at AE and they told him HE WILL GET HIS PICK at ORD. He's in his 30's so regardless, he will be one of the seriors in class. He said that he'd rather be in MSP with XJ, but if it's a Saab, he's heading to AE.

Another one, got a class date with 9E; he also wants to work for XJ, has an interview, but would turn to 9E if gets a sab.

Interesting. I didn't think of this angle.
Oh well...

The last timeMesaba was hiring, almost two years ago, people would flat out say in the interview "if I don't get the Avro I'm not interested in working here." Ballzy, but hey...everyone else flys a jet and is willing to hire you.

Hmm. Well, they are definately going to need to hire into the Saab, as well. This could get interesting. Get ready for 100 hr Saab months down the line here.

I got hired almost 3 years ago and was glad I didn't get the Avro. If I was in the Avro I NEVER would have been based back home in MSP. The Saab only took a few months to get back to MSP. A 10 minute drive to your base is pretty sweet!

But yeah, with so many airlines hiring right now, I don't know why someone who didn't live in a domicile would come to Mesaba. They could go to a jet only operator, upgrade in just a couple years (Pinnacle) and be making WAY more than any XJ Saab captain. Hell if I went to Pinnacle when I went to Mesaba I'd be a MSP CRJ captain @ $60/hour. Not the best rates around, but better than my $0 on furlough, or the $30 I'll make when I come back. Oh well, you can't predict the future.... :D

yeah, bust your a$$ in the Saab for 4-5 (maybe 6-7) and what thanks do you get? Its an upgrade in the same plane making 15 an hour less than if you were at 9E or anywhere else. Now I am hoping our attrition rate stays greater than 10 a month, and we get greater than 36 CRJ's (50-90) and maybe even ERJ's (if NWA pilots allow it) and a chance for a flow through. Could make for a couple quick upgrades into first the saab then into something with a little better pay and comfort. Thats a lot of wishing, but I am not chasing the regional of the month, or chasing the shiny new jet syndrome. 4 years invested with a company with a base at my home and a huge prospect for major growth....................i am staying put.
