It’s very impressive. We had an IFR checkride failure and could see the errors and the reasons as they occurred. No, I need to bring the SD card home, actually, I think I have some on my computer in fact. I'll give it a try now that I remember I have data. Watching Steve's video it looked impressive.
Strange turn of phrase. Sounds like ForeFlight brands the iPad Mini or that it won’t work without ForeFlight (neither of which are accurate).ForeFlight iPad Mini
Ah, that explains your use of the phrase. I don’t play with betas (with a few exceptions), but my Mini is far from being limited to ForeFlight.I have a dedicated iPad mini that only runs ForeFlight so I can keep to the approved iPadOS versions and keep the number of applications on to a minimum for reliability. My personal iPad has lots of stuff on it and often beta test versions of software - not something that I would want to rely on in flight…
I use a FlyBoys PIVOT iPad mini case and leg strap on my left leg. As you are correct, with the "Modular IFR panel," there is really nowhere to mount an iPad mini without it getting in the way of something critical.I bought an iPad mini also mainly for ForeFlight but there's just not enough room in my cub for it without blocking something or making it hard to get to something.
I have been using ForeFlight for all flight planning on the ground and checklists. During runup, I send the flight to the panel and then use the Garmin G3X / GNC 355A in flight. The Garmin databases I have for Canada are not as complete or up-to-date as ForeFlight's, so I have had to use the airport information a few times in flight so far for frequencies and airport procedures. So I use the largest phone instead (16 Pro Max). I really like ForeFlight and what it has to offer but quite frankly in these modern glass cockpits, it's not needed but we all use it anyways.
