whats the diff in non-rev vs. jumpseat?

Non-reving is flying in unused passenger seats on the aircraft. It is typically available to all employees at the airline in some sort of seniority order. Some airlines use date of hire; some use time of arrival at the airport; some allocate a certain number of priority passes each year; some use a combination of all these.

Jumpseating is riding in the extra seat(s) in the cockpit at the Captain's discretion. Only flight crew may do this. Some airlines will take as many jumpseat riders as there are open seats in the back; others will only take the number equal to the cockpit jumpseat(s). Since 9/11, many things have changed and jumpseating on other airlines' aircraft is much more difficult, if not impossible. Some airlines also allow cabin crew to jumpseat on unoccupied FA seats.

I wish you success!
