Although I am tired of hearing about the Hudson crash. It is nice to see that some writers acknowledge how bad the industry has gotten and why the current direction of the industry is not good for anyone.

I'm pretty sure in the NTSB report it said Sully was looking down when the FO saw the birds and said something about them.

I'm pretty sure Sully would be insulted by the insinuation that he is a non-conformist cowboy...what rules did they "subvert" in this situation? THEY did a fine job in a bad situation, yet the title of the article is "My Aircraft"? Why the vast bio on Sully and not the FO? What was his name again? Oh wait, nobody cares.

Automation did not take out much of the "actual flying" in the business...what the heck does that even mean, "actual flying"?? Were they hand-flying 747s across the atlantic before? I use the stick and rudder every day i go to work on one of those "computerized" airplanes.

this article is full of glib generalizations that don't mean spit. the job isn't what it once was because us pilots didn't stand up for ourselves...not because of automation or lack of available military pilots. How heroic are we that none of us went on strike when they took away everything these past years?

What's up with the cover illustration calling Sulley "The Last Aviator"? Did everyone else quit their jobs?

The crew did a great job....but the sensationalism by the media, as usual, is out of control.

I would think any other professional airline pilot could have ditched the plane safely too. Given the same set of circumstances. If all your engines quit, the decision is made for you.

Despite giving a few false messages, it's better than many of the other articles I've read on the subject. It's better researched.

Either way, I look forward to hearing Sulley talk about the incident on 60 minutes. I would advise everybody to keep their expectations low so as not to be disappointed. Many of you are hoping he will single-handedly "clean up the image" of this profession or "raise the bar" for us somehow. Most likely he'll just talk about what happened and maybe talk about CRM.
