737 class size

I can't seem to get an answer on another thread (can we say, hijacked?)...


What are the usual class sizes at Higher Power's 737 type rating courses?

I already have a type, so please don't recommend where I should go. I just want to know what the usual class sizes are. Trying to compare HPA with another program objectively.

I do not think there is an average size, the classes are pre-scheduled so it basically who shows up, I am not tooooo sure if there is a "max" class size. Being in the training business, you want a nice size ground school class, it encourages students to share information with each other. Higher Power Aviation only offers quality training, so whether the class size is "1" student or "100" students, I am quite confident they will all receive quality training.

We once had a class of 5 crews from Vanguard and 2 crews from the US Marshalls, and a single pilot, it
was probably one of the best classes that we had, we received positive feedback from the students, but
the poor instructor worked his butt off.

I instruct there & can confirm class size can vary from as few as 2 or 3 to as many as 12-14, it simple depends on the number of folks that are scheduled. When the class size gets over 14, they usually start a second class for they feel anything larger gets too big.

I went to a type school where there were only 3 folks in class (it was HPA) & I've seen class sizes that were in the 12-14 range at HPA, the quality of instruction doesn't so much depend on class size as it does in my opinion of the quality of instructor.

I will say the primary instructor (Carson) as well as the other primary instructors (Lynn, Bob, & others) do a great job of keeping the program flowing & provide great instruction regardless of the class size. Now if they go to the "B" team instructors like me, then ask for your money back but with the A team guys, you won't go wrong.

Most schools you pay your money, do the time, get your type, & everything about the 2 weeks becomes history. The best part of HPA is that for the two weeks & money you invest with them, your return will last as long as you wish for it too. Mark, Joe & everyone provide a network of aviation contacts that in my opinion (I'm biased obviously) is unmatched by any other type school. If you're in DAL sometime, near DFW, please call them & they 'll be glad to give you a tour, if you end on a Wed or Thurs, you'll get fed at the Arlington baseball field too, a tradition where Mark takes out every student for lunch each week to TGIFridays & gives them a great tour of the stadium (Mark loves baseball).

There were four in my class at HPA, plus one who was not officially enrolled, but observing, in preparation for taking the course at a later date. With my class starting on a Monday, I thought there would be more students. I really liked having a smaller class, as it seemed more personal. Carson did an excellent job!

The Thursday class that started after mine had many more in it, for some reason. It seemed like they had around 15, give or take.

I'm planning to go to HPA when I get whacked by AA/TWA. I know the SWA recruiter comes by to talk with people in the class.

Does this really give you a leg up or does it just put a face with a name?(BTW, even if it doesn't help with SWA, I still plan on using HPA--they seem really nice!)

With SWA set to hire a bunch, I'd like to do what I can to boost my chances.
