Miscellaneous

Q19. Regarding the "training freeze" on new hires, as I understand it this means
that those of us who have not been with our current carrier for at least 12
months are ineligible for employment at MDA. Is this correct?
A19. While the restructuring agreement allows MDA to hold a pilot for a
period of time before releasing them to mainline, there is no
provision to hold PWO pilots going to MDA. These pilots may be
subject to their carrier’s hold provisions, if any apply.
Q20. Could you give us an estimated duration of training activities, from class
start to completion of IOE, what has been the norm?
A20. The training plan for the EMB consists of a 4-week ground school,
2 weeks of simulator, and approximately 1 weeks for IOE.
Seniority / Flow
Q21.
Several questions have been asked regarding CEL seniority. Below

is a sample. The answer is intended to be responsive to duplicate
questions.
If I am awarded a F/O position (based upon preference listing of "all"),
what is my upgrade seniority at Mid Atlantic based upon? Date of hire at
ALG or award date at Mid Atlantic.
A21. The order of seniority on the MDA Pilot System Seniority List is as
follows:
1) US Airways pilots in order of US Airways pilot seniority.
2) Pilots from Participating Wholly Owned (PWO) Carriers in
order of their positions on the Wholly Owned Pilots Seniority
List (CEL).
3) New-hire pilots in order of their dates of hire as MDA pilots.
All pilots at Participating Wholly Owned carriers will be placed on
the Combined Eligibility List (CEL). This relative seniority will
remain intact no matter when a pilot on that list accepts a position
at MDA.
Q22. Several questions were asked regarding flow through. These questions
included both flows up to MDA and Mainline, as well as flow back down to
the PWOs. The following answer applies to all such questions.
A22. The restructuring agreement allows for flow through between the
PWOs, MDA, and Mainline to be finalized in a separate agreement.
PWO Pilot Questions
~5843436.doc Page 5 of 5 06/22/04 1:06 PM
The details of this agreement are currently being discussed
between the individual ALPA representatives and the company.
Q23. How will I know where I stand on the CEL? Will the CEL be published?
A23. Please contact your ALPA rep for a copy of the CEL.
Q24. If I leave a PWO for a FO position at MDA, will I have the option of
returning to my PWO if captain positions become available there?
A24. No.
Q25. If I take a FO position and a pilot junior to me selects captain only, will he
get the captain slot before I upgrade at MDA?
A25. No, awards will be based on CEL seniority.
Q26. Do I have to fill this form every time a class is offered or does the
company keep a record of my information until I get call from you?
A26. A preference form only
needs to be filled out once. A pilot may

change his preference form until such time that the company has
made him an offer based upon his preference. However, any
change made after the cutoff for a specific class date will not be
effective until a subsequent class date is announced. Once a pilot
declines a MDA position for which he has stated a preference, he is
no longer eligible to flow to MDA.
Stats
Q27. What is the current # of pilots?
A27. 171 including classes up to June 21, 2004.
Q28. How many from the APL?
A28. All 171.
Q29. How many from the PWOs?
A29. Zero.
Q30. How many from off the street, as was rumored to take place?
A30. None.
Q31. What are the current pilot bases?
A31. PIT.
Q32. Where are future bases planned?
A32. This decision has not yet been made.
