For those who have worked either or both, which would you prefer? Can netjets or other fracs do pref bidding like the way the airlines do?

The fractional world is not conducive to a pref bidding system due a constantly changing schedule. Owner demands are continuously being taken, some on very short notice. Therefore there is no way to pre-publish any trips. I suppose you could put out blocks of "on-duty" days to bid on, but that is about the only way I see that it could be worked, not a true "pref bid" system.

I flew for a regional for about 4 years before coming to NetJets and I'll say that I really like the 7/7 schedule. 7 days on the road tends to go by without too much difficulty and the payoff of having a week off every other week is very nice. I like that better than getting smaller blocks of time off. Plus, a vacation week turns out to be much more than a week off.

I agree..I am looking forward to 7 on 7 off. I did the bidding with my last airline for 8 years and I never had a lot of time at home unless it was a vacation. This way you can plan a life a bit easier!

Huh?

Don't you have hobbies? Friends? Things you might like to do on those other six days other than work?

yeah a week off really sucks. WTF?

I don't ever only need 1 day. I need the whole week to be with family friends and stuff.

How is life at home with your family? I know 7 days at home is nice, but 7 days gone at one time is a long time away. I do four on 3 off, right now. I love the idea of 7 days off, and I'm ready to jump on board, but my wife is wanting me to ask the NetJet guys and gals how there family does with the 7 days gone. I'm thinking of this as a career move and forget about SW, or UPS ect. which I have contacts with, I just need 500 more hours of PIC. I'm logging about 80 hours a month of turbine PIC. I have talked with some of ya'll on the road and all of ya'll seem to love working for NetJets.

I have recieved the NetJets app, I just want to fill it out when I know if I'm going to give up on the whole major airline thing. Ya'lls advise please.

My wife is gone 14 to 18 days a trip. So my 7 days isn't that bad. :)

I used to do 16 day trips with Polar so the 7 isn't a big deal for me.

I will say, however, it seems the Netjets guys work harder during those 7 days.

Ask some of the Focus or Atlas guys about long trips....

I know my schedule for the next five years ... love it .. 7/7 at NJA.

I guess you have no incentive at NJ if you know your schedule for the next 5 years? Must suck having to fly the same aicraft with the same schedule. At CS, we get to change aircraft and get new type ratings when we desire. I guess it's just another plus to work at CitationShares.

You can change aircraft any time you desire? No equipment locks at all? That must get awfully expensive for CitationShares.

I don't think the seven days away is that bad if you know how to work it. It's more than made up for with a week at home. Just about every hotel you'll be put up in has high speed internet so it's real easy to chat and use webcams to stay in touch with kids and spouses. I would never go back to the 121 style schedule if I had a choice, this is just too nice.

With such a limited fleet, it really isn't that bad for the company. "Oh, you want to go back to the Bravo? No problem, I'm sure somebody is ready to switch back to the Excel."
