Make no mistake and do not be fooled by the 7.5/ 6.5 propaganda. This is an 8/6 at the best. Here's an example. The rotations start on Tuesday or Thursday.

If you're on the Tuesday rotation: You have to be ready to be at your base by MONDAY at noon. Then they reserve the right to keep you at your base (or have you back at your base) by the following Tuesday at noon. Thats eight days. It's stupendous that they think an entire pilot group can't do the math. My pet chimp spit out " 8 days" in three seconds when I fed him the numbers. 8/6 wouldnt be so bad if they would just call it that. It's the fact that they cant admit what it is that makes it so laughable. The fact that a person who calls himself a pilot came up with this makes it worse. So, prospective pilots, during the interview, query the interviewer on this, and its's a good chance you'll get a firsthand look at how fast the lies start flowing here.

Monday thru the following Tuesday is 9 days. Forgive me if I'm missing something. I usually am.

During the contract negotiations, NJ management floated the idea of an 8/6 schedule. Needless to say, it sank like a rock! The pilots demanded a balanced schedule. The reserve is fair because you are paid for the extra days worked. What does management care if a pilot enters the office complaining about the unfairness of the 8/6 schedule? If you don't like it, leave, will be the answer you'd get. From the way things sound there, you might also get fired. The NJ pilots got to vote --via a survey--for the scheduling goal the union fought for.

UNIONS = DEMOCRACY IN ACTION

Poor math or trickery..?

You are right. Mon at noon 'till Tue at noon = 9 days.
Basically, the company wants YOU to position yourself coming on duty and going off duty.

If your on station at noon and they dont use you, your ready to go the next morning and conversely, returning, ( send you home early in the morning to get you there by noon) you have given them two free days, on your own time. Slick way to piss on your foot and call it rain........

More Mgmt trickery ..:rolleyes:
