690 Crash in Oklahoma

Allegedly it had an expiramental 5 bladed prop on a garrett engine. I'm not sure if it was a -5 or -10 engine. The debris field is quite large indicating a inflight break up. That is all I know.

Preliminary NTSB reports indicate an in flight breakup. I have heard from several pilots here in OK that are familiar with Service Center at Wiley Post, and they've said that this aircraft had just recieved a new STC mod of some kind that they were working on, dealing with vibration issues involving the engines and engine mounts. Dont know if it was new props or an airframe mod of some kind, but it was something new. Supposedly that's why they were taking the aircraft to the NBAA convention. I've hunted and fished all over that area where it went down... Helluva rough area to try and find wreckage in. Keep in mind that what I've heard is just talk at this point. Most of the guys around here that have Commander experience (flying OR mechanical) have been pretty quiet about the whole thing.

No suprise to me. The airframe is a pile of shat when it come to spar issues. Either the tail fails off (AD issued to correct it) or the wing falls off (another AD issued). Time to retire the airframe a-la-starship before it kills again.

RIP, crew. My condolences to the family.
