Does anyone know the DOC difference between the cl 601-3er and the
cl 604. I am under the impression that the 604 is almost $1000 less per hour
because its engines are on condition. Does anyone have first hand knowledge?
That is exactly what you need in a side by side comparison. Note that the DOC have fuel at $2/gal, so change that variable and you should get a fair assesment of what it will cost to operate either aircraft. Also, this chart is for the 601-3R, which is the same plane as the 601-3A/ER. The difference is the -3R has the Extra fuel tank (ER) from the factory where the -3A/ER is a 601-3A with an extra fuel tank as a aftermarket option. It's an STC I believe, but other than that, performance, range, etc are all the same. The -3Rs are obviously newer as well.
From the Conklin-DD Aircraft Evaluator and a little math to correct for the fuel price I came up with $1569 for the 604 and $2222 for the 601-3R. The evaluator uses 4.04 a gallon fuel price and then provides a multiplier or correction factor if your price is different. I used our blended fuel price ($2.48 for Jan-Sep. of 2005) and applied the correction. Of course our fuel prices got alot more outrageous in October. Gotta go back and rework the 604 number at the new average.
