Morning, I have recently started flying a 421b for a local individual on a part time basis. I have been to intitial school and feel pretty good about flying the airplane. My question is this: the airplane is equiped with a Sperry "Stars" system for both the pilot and co-pilot positions. Anyone have any experience with this system? It is all electric and runs off a dual inverter system. There are two complete seperate systems. How comfortable are you guys with the reliability of such a system. I know it is remote, but in the event of a complete electric failure I would be left with only one small turn needle that operates off vac. Maybe its just me, but it seems like we are putting a lot of faith in a 30 year old system. Also, does anyone know or remember the cruise power settings you used and fuel flow numbers? Comments??
