That's more than I have made in the past 1.5 months :(

i made $25/hr teaching, $65/hr for the plane. It is possible to somewhat live as Cfi the key is not to work for one of thoose flight schools that charges students $40-$60 an hour for the cfi the gives you the leftover crumbs after they take the majority of it.

I Agree with C208. Plus consider salaried CFi's....your compensation is independent of hours flown, so in a bad month your nominal compensation per flight hour could be twice of $25/hr easy. (Example: $1600/mo at a university...you flew 70 hours...$1600...you flew 20 hours..still $1600. :D ). Granted, salaried cfi positions are the minority , but like C208 said, don't take the 10 bucks/pop gig with 40 billable hour a month availability. We know those don't command that kind of money...

yea $10 is a joke, my first cfi job was $7 but i guess i was gettin college credit for it too. i'm in the process of trying to get a raise.....we'll see
