mark,

you must have the smallest penis on this planet. do you tell the 20 year old girls you meet at the bar what you make? get a life loser....

$300 a month is huge when you only take home $600-$1000 per paycheck. That was what it was like 1st year at colgan. And they gave no per diem or lunches.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but if you are going to correct someone's grammar, maybe you should do a spell check on your own post.

It's meant, not "ment".

Fedex is in contract negotiations, right? I bet Management loves reading these posts by their pilots bragging about how much money they make and how much time off they have.

"Flew 180 hrs last year and get paid for over 1000 hrs credit"

Might want to tone it down and start some "Poor me, overworked and underpaid" threads on the Majors Board.

Hey, if you need a little loan to tide you over to payday, I'm always good for $20 to help a brother out.

Xj

1st year pay at XJ - Hired Jan 24th, so I'm missing 3 1/2 weeks pay.

Ya'll ready for this - $20,300 W2, $24,700 with per-diem, and a nice cherry on top in the form of a furlough letter.

All that, and 8 nights a month in my own bed!

amazing isn't it? and to think you would kill to be a systems operator..and i only fly days..see avatar...and i put it in the bank so i can retire at 40

Funny you should say that. About 5 years ago I was down in LGB and there was a Flying Tigers reunion in progress. So I had the chance to meet with some older gentlemen that had flown for Tigers before they were acquired by Federal Express. They had some great stories. They weren't that fond of FedEx. One of them who was a senior check airman at Tigers at the time of the acquisition told me that "FedEx ruined everything." He went on to explain that back in the Flying Tiger's day that if you got in trouble on an overnight the company would bail you out of jail. You'd have to pay the company back but they would take it back over time, kind of like a payroll deduction to cover your bail money. Anyhow this same guy gave me some advice I'll never forget. I'll paraphrase below.

Son, figure out how much money you need to comfortably retire. Work hard until you have that amount set aside. Don't waste money on fancy houses, sports cars, or big boats. As soon as you have that amount of money saved up quit flying and don't look back.

It's funny how sometimes a conversation will stick with you. I couldn't tell you who I flew with a few weeks ago or what we talked about but that conversation just sticks with me. It's good advice. Oh and maybe you FedEx guys can do something with that bail program concept in your next contract.

you are right...but there is nothing wrong with the house thing... owning property is a must..i am trying to acquire as much as i can..but also do not go thru life saving all your money so as to enjoy it only when u retire..YOU HAVE TO ENJOY THE RIDE..as well...in my short 11 years at fedex i have seen to many young and old pilots die from illness or just jogging down the street..all that money does them no good..so save..invest...but ENJOY THE RIDE too...so go buy a harley..good luck

Getting back to the original question: I made @ Pinch-a-nickel in '05... drum roll.. $27,909 gross (emphasize the word GROSS- because that's exactly what it is)... Net pay = $22,150. This was without picking up any additional trips outside of my awarded lines (avg around 84 hrs/mo). Got out of initial in May of '04.
Still plugging away to get up to my 3000TT to upgrade.. if we're even in business then.

Hope that helps.

At Mesaba my 1040 is approx 24,500 gross on first year pay (05). I recieved approx 4800 in perdiem on top of that. I blocked 681 hours in 05'. Averaged 57 hours of block per month. All on first year pay approx 24 pr/hr w/o perdiem included.

You guys need to look at the bigger picture. First 2 years doesn't mean squat. It's crappy no matter where you are first year. Just ask a CO or UPS pilot. A better way to compare airlines is looking at longer periods of time.

How much will you make in the first 5 years?
How much will you make if you stay there 10 years?

Yeah I know you're thinking a major will pick you up but it doesn't always happen. Most guys I know at majors spent 6-8 years at a regional so the ideas I'm putting out aren't too farfetched.

well, lets see.....NWA will most likely let more pilots go.....united..how many of those are on the streets......alot of US Airways pilots are out on the street.......oh, but Continental and American are hiring..wow....i do not beleive the majority of us will be leaving for the majors....more likely we wil be leaving for another career.......

Oh by the way....i got my W2, and its 29 grand and some change for 05'

i am a 2-3 year FO

once again....XJ....full pay til the last day.....i think about stike preps.....i hope we are united......

5th year Capt at ASA 59,800 gross on reserve/relief. Flew a lot in 1st half of year. Not so much the last half.
