Just read this from ALPA, not sure if everybody saw it.....

In other news, effective immediately, first-class medical certificates for pilots under age 40 will be valid for one year. Certificates obtained by pilots over age 40 will retain the same duration—six months.

A first-class medical certificate issued to a pilot who has not reached his or her 40th birthday is valid for one year. As an example, if an individual’s birth date is July 28, 1968, and the individual gets a first-class medical on July 27 (one day before turning age 40), the medical is valid for one year.

This rule applies to previously issued certificates. For example, a first-class medical certificate issued five months before the effective date of this rule change (July 24, 2008) will be valid for an additional seven months.

Any questions should be directed to the ALPA Aeromedical Office at (303) 341-4435.
