Hello- I'm in the market for a twin, proabably a seneca, and I've got a couple questions. I've been tossing the idea of becomming a part 135 operator and I'd love to hear your ideas. First off- is there any way to earn money flying part 91. Obviously the rules are not as strict. I've been out of the loop for awhile so my FARs knowledge is not very good. Is it possible to carry mail or cargo via part 91? I'm pretty sure it isn't, but are there exceptions? As far as 135 goes- I would have a single-pilot operation, I've heard that it is the best way to go, not to mention- it's easier to get the certificate. So for the business end of it, how do I go about becoming the director of operations that is required? I'd be the chief pilot also- and I read somewhere that the Director of Maintenance can be part time- so I could have someone on call. I know numerous experienced mechanics. Any advice or information would be much appreciated.
