We have both of these airplanes on your certificate (135). I did my last 299 in the SD3 (Shorts). Does this 299 count for the DA20 (Falcon 20) also?

Reading the reg....it dosen't seem to matter.

No certificate holder may use a pilot, nor may any person serve, as a pilot in command of a flight unless, since the beginning of the 12th calendar month before that service, that pilot has passed a flight check in one of the types of aircraft which that pilot is to fly.

So, will doing the 299 in the SD3 count for the DA20.

Thanks!

We operate everything from 182s to Citations. A 299 check in a 182 is all that we need; the type doesn't matter.

299

Agreed, a 299 is only in one of the aircraft which the pilot is to fly. =)

you only have to complete the 297 (6 month IPC) and 299 (1 Year ride with FAA) in one of the aircraft you are assigned to fly, not all of them.

So yes the SD3 ride counts for the DA20.

BTW, who does your 6 month 297/IPC? Your D.O. or do you guys go to a simulator based school?

The 297 needs to alternate aircraft every 6 months, but the 299 can be in any aircraft.

We do them in the plane with check airmans ..... no more sim .... not sure if they used it or not. I have only been here two years now.

I was thinking of the operation I'm at when I say D.O.

We do our 297 with our D.O. (he is also our designated check airman) and our 299 rides with the PIE FSDO.

We only do 297s in the Westwind, but operate a DA20 and C402. We will soon be brining on a DA50. I won't be flying that bird for awhile. Talks are they want me to fly on the Westwinds and start flying F.O. on the 20, after a year on the 20 they would type me. Pretty reasonable I think.

So if I start flying another aircraft I'll have to do a seperate 297 in it as well.

Question for all;
does the 297 absolutely have to be in make and model (either real or sim) or can you do it say in a Citation or Kingair sim?

If memory serves me correctly, the FARs say it has to be in same category and class of the airplane to be flown??

My understanding is this:

As PIC you need a 297 every six months and must be in type with in the previous 12 months. So, if you have 2 types as PIC you alternate. If you have 3 you have to do 1 extra 297 for that aircraft.

As SIC you only have to be checked every 12 months. So if you are PIC in type A and SIC in type B you do the 297 in type A and the 299 in type B.

Aircraft Type A is the only aircraft you are PIC-qualified for, therefore the only aircraft that requires a 297 and 299. Aircraft type B requires a 293 and instrument currency in accordance with Part 61 for IFR operations.

You can't take a 297/299 in an aircraft you are not PIC qualified in.
