12/20 Cactus class

I was told unofficially today to expect a call for the 12/20 class. I guess the roster came out today but tk was either out or catching up to the inbox. I interviewed on 22 Oct. If Oregon State winds up at the Insight bowl on the 28th I might be looking for a place to crash in Tempe for the night.

Any idea on aircraft type? I heard that AWA had a small class for 6 757 FOs recently and that it was a "surprise" because people had expected the Bus. That would be a nice surprise...

Hmmm, wouldn't you say just getting hired and flying any piece of equipment was a nice suprise???

Quite honestly I think you might be happier on the bus!

The disadvantage to being hired into the 757 is being stuck on reserve for years. The only current advantage is you won't get based in LAS. Rumors abound of additional 757s coming after our ETOPs approval so that may change things in the future. Newhires are seat-locked for two years.

Interestingly, I have a buddy who's in the current 757 class and he was given the option to defer to a December Airbus class. He wisely chose to take the earliest class date regardless of equipment. Seniority isn't everything; it's the ONLY thing.

Cactusbeav2b interviewed on Oct. 22, I interviewed on Nov. 4 and I know they had interviews on Nov. 2. Anyone know if there were also interviews conducted between Oct. 22 - Nov. 2? I'm trying to figure out where I stand.

Also wondering if anyone has heard of classes scheduled for Jan?

Congrats! And welcome to another Beaver fan! I didn't go to OSU, but did grow up in Corvallis. Sorry I don't know of a place for you right now, but I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Myself and another guy from the oct 20th interviews talked to TK today and were told the same, so we'll see you in class! 12/20 will be 12 people. The class list is out and calls should be coming in the next week. My guess would be mostly, if not all, airbus.

They did double interviews my week...they usually do every tuesday/wednesday, but that week they did thurs/fri as well. I think 12/20 is mostly the people from the 0ct 19-22 interviews (that's just my inference...don't know for sure). From what i've heard they've interviewed just about every week since.

So, did your call to TK constitute "official notice" or still the old "you're tentatively lining up for 12/20?" I interviewed 10/21, and I'm wondering whether I should call TK or just be patient. Hope to see you 12/20.

No worries, I am hooked up if the Beavs hit the Insight Bowl...again. Nothing will match their first New Years Day trip to Phoenix when they kicked notre dame's a$s up and down the field and won the Fiesta 41-9.

Just to be clear, no official call as of yet. I will post when I do.

I'm waiting for the call myself. Interviewed on 10-25,26 along with another seven. I was told to expect class late Dec or early Jan. Haven't heard any official word yet. I heard rumors of a class on 12-27. If true, that could be me.

I'm also freaking out over the ATA deal. I would love to be in class and considered part of the AWA team before any of this stuff goes down. (furlough protection).

Congrats on being in the pool, I've been worrying about the same thing for almost 2 months now, and I hear the rumors every day here at "ATA Connection" .... If you want, I can send you some of my industrial-size TUMS... they help a little bit... but only sitting at a desk in class with an AWA manual in front of me will cure my stress level!! Lets hope we can all be in class before any sort of big announcement occurs......

Confirmed 12/20

I called Tammy today, and she gave me official notification that I was in the 12/20 class. Psyched! She also confirmed 12 in the class, with only 3 notified as of 1:00PM 12/1. She said she had been swamped, but intended to get notification out to the rest of you shortly. I didn't ask about equipment.

She didn't have the definitive last day of class before Xmas, but thought at least Fri off and probably Thurs/Fri. You'll have jumpseat priv from day 1, but passes don't start until 16 days in.

I'm trying not to get worked up about ATA. There's nothing I can do about it other than pass up the opportunity, but that ain't gonna happen! No rumors to pass on, just waiting like the rest of you until 12/10 for the deadline.
