I am a pilot at a non unionized fractional. There is some work going on to get us to unionize. i have some questions.

1. there was a post that the dues are 1.8 percent of salary is that really true? That does seem a little high

2. Are the opinions of the union deligates in line with netjet wife? that scares me.

3. Are there attempts to work with management or is it us against them? that seems to be the way it is on these threads. That really scares me.

Thanks for the help. Trying to make the right decision going forward and like i say i just don't want to start hating the company i work for and it seems like that is the mentality. i am hopeful it is just from those who dominate these threads

1. dues are 1.56% of base pay

2. NetJet Wife echoes the sentiments of sooo many of us. And she does it using "pretty" words.

3.The Union as always had a mentality of working with the Company for the benefit of all. Without the Company there are no employees...no employees means no Union. Sometimes the Company is a bit stubborn, like in the past 4 years, and they needed a little attitude adjustment. The Company got so used to pushing around the old MEC that when SU took over they had a hard time with the word "NO". They got used to it and both side are benefitting from it.

Hope that sums it up for you......

Oh yea....and I agree with you screen name....

thanks for the response. Sorry to hear that sooo many agree with her. I just don't want to be associated with that mentality. many of us here feel that way i was hoping to hear something different but thanks for your honesty. Makes my decision easier.

If you make your decision based on what NetJet Wife has to say then I would have to say you may not have all the information you need to make a wise decision.

Local 1108 web site is out there for all those who want information. There are many official Union folks willing to answer any and all of your question. That's the right way to get your information. You guys set the tone for your pilots......

NJW does not speak for the pilots.....I'd say 90% of our guys don't even know this board exists. Our MEC speaks for us....get your info from them.

1. That is the best money I spend. Seriously, 1.8% is CHEAP!
To many things to list for that 1.8%. I am sure others will chime in on this one. Oh ya, that money is tax deductable.

2.
Whoa, put down the flame thrower. How about you expand this question a little or give a little more detail. Then I will approach this question.

3.
Yes we are working with management. We have committee's that the CBA set up to better the company and the lives of the pilots.
Why are you scared? We are not friends, this is business. And many times in business the PC, I love you, you love me crap goes out the window. Get over looking for them to like you. You want them to RESPECT you.

I don't hate NJA, I just hate all the stupid things they do. And then point the finger at us.

But in searching for your answers you must look at your first question. There lies all the answers. What do you get for your 1.8%, and is it worth it to you.

One last thought. All the things that the 1.8% may get you does not just show up when you vote in a Union. You must work and FIGHT for it. Management won't just give it to you. And that goes to your last question. But from the tone of your post, you may not have the stomach for it (yet). But if/when you do 1108 will be there to help.

Man I am slow. 5 posts in the time to type my response.
Anyways, I am curious. What is the mentality you are talking about. I am just trying to understand when you don't like about her position.

Dude, you need to get more information than what you are finding on these boards. only about 10-20% of any givin pilot group ever looks at these boards and I probably say only 1/2 take the opinions on here serious.

I am not going to get on a soap box and tell you how great having a union is, but just get more info. From a source other than NFW.

thanks for the posts. i will be seeking out info over the next couple of days. As far as what i don't like about her posts is that they are totally one sided anti company. it doesn"t matter what the company says they are wrong just because it came from the company. I choose to listen to all sides and try to make a rational decision. There is no reasoning in any of those posts.
