Mergers are frequently messy. As a junior SWA guy I'm pretty uneasy about this. HOWEVER, maybe the F9 pilots can teach the SWA pilots how to use automation, and fly a little international, since our flight ops management doesn't seem to understand it yet. That's something to look forward to! -

Actually SWA, along with only a few other operators, can land with 3000 RVR on 31C. Of course, 3000 RVR is still pretty lame. Under the Fair Tax plan, everyone would receive a rebate to reimburse us for the taxes on the basic consumables like food... so if you were so poor and were "starving," you would continue to live tax free. I feel for the new guys, too... I've done the whole commute halfway across the country for another airline, and know that kills any schedule. But I think SWA is worth it even if you live on the east coast... if you can accept the fact that you'll commute for 8 months or more and won't have time... -

I don't think it's quite that bad (at least not publicly). It's not like when I worked at Skyway and they threatened to shift all the flying to Mesa unless we accepted their lame*** contract. I'll second that. I had to resign from ATA since I was furloughed, and also give SWA a copy of my resignation from my employer that I had just left... SWA apparently mailed/faxed both of them to these former employers. And, yes, I've heard of a few AAers going back about 10-18 months ago. -

SWA in EWR this morning!
Distance doesn't matter since we're not hub-and-spoke... DAL and HOU are way close, for example, and even LAS and OAK aren't that far apart. What really matters is the number of RONing aircraft, and number of flights. And, no, I don't miss EWR either. -
