I'm in IERW currently and it is a really good program. These guys aren't joking about being a soldier first though. There is a lot of stuff that you must put up with in being a soldier but to me it is worth it. They let me fly! I hadn't really thought about flying rotary wing before I applied...
Letter to the Editor of Washington Times 2/11/2004
'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William...
Hello everyone:
I am a student at Cal state Fullerton. I am doing a paper about being an Army Helicopter pilot for a class. If interested in doing an interview via email for my paper please respond to this post and I will PM you or PM me with your email address.
I am beginning the application...
This seems to be a predominantly fixed wing message board. Are there any helo pilots here? Current military, former military, fire fighters, police agency, UC Customs, Border patrol, Corporate? If so please let me know who you are. I am a student at Cal State Fullerton and am writing a paper on...
It also mentioned that jets will be so vast that training will take place in jets not single piston engines anymore.
Some computer stuff was mentioned like animated skyways diverting you from weather and traffic. Anybody have insight to this?
I was watching a show about corporate jets on the History channel today. It was saying that by 2004 a plethera of small jets will start showing up, 4-6 seaters. One prototype I think called "Maverick" is going under tests now. People will be able to travel from smaller airports and go across the...
I am currently working on my private pilot license.
A junior in college with two semesters left.
I was enlisted in the Navy for 5 years. Honorable discharge.
I am not in any type of officer program.
Age 26.
What steps would I need to take to fly for the Navy?
okay, you guys are going to think I'm a jackass, but somehow I was $3,000 off. I swear it was the calculator. Okay, maybe operator error. I took another look at my receipts and to date I have spent $4770. Not $7730. I was wondering how I could have gotten hosed that bad.
Anyway the real...
I have been working on my PPL for 4 months now. I have 28 hours and have not soloed yet. I don't think I am ready to solo but my instructor says I am. My 141 school requires that I take a stage check with one of the senior instructors before I solo. I do not think I will pass this stage check...
downed glider in SoCal?
I was up flying today near El Toro out of John Wayne today, 9/21/02. I forget what frequency we were on but, I heard something about a glider that had gone down. It sounded like it might have been near Lake Elsinore or Perris. If anybody has any info I'd like to find out...
I'm working on my PPL and absolutely love it. However, I am still a little apprehensive about flying. Maybe I've seen too many movies or just haven't learned enough about flying yet, but, it is always on my mind that something will go wrong up there.
Does anyone else feel the same? How do you...
get your degree
I got suckered into enlisting into the Navy because I wanted to be a Naval aviator. Recruiters are all talk. Don't sign up on anyone's word that you can get into an officer program more easily by enlisting.
Age limit is 27 for officers, 30 for the AF I think. So finish your BA...
Hey any EA6B or S3 B pilots!
Got any good stories? Do you enjoy flying with a crew? Do any of you that wanted to fly 14's or 18's look back and wish you could?
I was enlisted on the Carl Vinson and miss the sound of the Viking. Will either of these planes do a barrel roll?
just wondering.
I was reading this book, about becoming a professional pilot because it is what I have always wanted to do.
Spending $25,000 on ratings and getting paid little for instructing and doing cargo for a couple of years doesn't bother me. But then I got to a chapter on making it into the majors and...
I am getting my ratings while going to college. One day I would like to be a corporate pilot. Should I get a degree in business or should I major in something I am interested in? Would a minor in business hold any ground? Or are "they" just looking to see that you earned a BA degree?
Is going...
I am just starting out on my private certificate. Is there a difference in using home DVD instruction versus ground school at a flight school? Do they both accomplish the same thing or should the DVD course be used as a compliment to ground school?
Thanks for the feedback!
